Foreword
Rural Iowa testifies to a quality of life that is
special and highly valued by those who live here. The Midwest work-ethic, robust communities, safe
neighborhoods, and providing quality childhood experiences are goals for which
we strive. Part of our Midwest background indicates
that major community projects are not undertaken lightly. The effort to provide a Mississippi River
Eco Tourism Center is no exception. The Clinton County Conservation Board
has been studying this concept for more than five years. It is a vision of the Clinton County Conservation
Board brought about by input from park visitors and the citizens of Clinton County. After much hard work, the basic
design has been determined, and Gardner Architecture of Strawberry Point, IA,
has been hired as the architect.
The site at Rock Creek Marina and Campground was determined to be the
favored site for the location of this new educational and tourism facility. The fundraising effort is now
underway, involving many volunteers on several committees. This case statement is the culmination
of one committee’s efforts.
